CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH
BRANDY STATION, VIRGINIA |
SAINT LUKE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
REMINGTON, VIRGINIA |
Historic Saint James Parish originally consisted of St. James Episcopal Church, Brandy, and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Rappahannock Station (as Remington was then known), which the members of St. James Church established to provide a local place to worship for residents of the area. During the Civil War St. James Church was destroyed, and the land was used for the burial of the dead from both sides of the conflict. After the war, the members of St. James rebuilt in Brandy Station, and named the new facility, "Christ Episcopal Church". At about the same time, members living in Rappahannock Station built St. Luke's Church. The St. James Church site is owned by Christ Church, Brandy Station, but is leased to the Brandy Station Foundation, which conducts tours of the site and provides maintenance. On the pages listed below, you will find information about both congregations, images, and many links to both local, national and international points of interest.
