News from the Churches
The Rev. Joie Clee Weiher

Breaking News: During meetings in early February, 2008, the vestries of Christ Church and St. Luke's Church, meeting separately under the leadership of the Senior Wardens, voted unanimously to call The Rev. Joie Clee Weiher as Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, and as Rector of St. Luke's Church. The Rev. Weiher has accepted the calls, and the Bishop of Virginia, The Rt. Rev. Peter James Lee, has approved! Read on for the history of this process of transition.

For several months the members of both vestries have been engaged in a search for an associate priest. The vestries anticipate a seamless transition in leadership in the Spring of 2008 when Jim Hammond plans to retire.

We are pleased to announce that both vestries, deliberating separately, have agreed to issue a call to The Reverend Joie Clee Weiher to assume the position of Associate Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, and Associate Rector of St. Luke's Church, effective August 1, 2007.

The Rev. Joie Clee Weiher is a 1999 graduate from the University of Houston, with the degree of Bachelor of Arts, with Honors. In 2005, she earned a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary. During seminary, Joie served a two year internship at Grace Church, The Plains. Following graduation, Joie was appointed Assistant Rector at Trinity Church, Upperville, VA.

In addition to four years of experience working in Fauquier County and Region XIII of the Diocese of Virginia, Joie brings an exceptional level of both competence and intelligence to her work. Joie has a pastor's heart which shows itself in not only in her ability to work with people of all ages, but also in her care for folk in crisis or need.

With God's grace, the two churches will enjoy an easy transition in leadership which will serve us all well in the years to come!
